K9 JOB DESCRIPTIONS

How do K9s keep our Communities Safe?

The Patrol, Search & Rescue, and Blood Hound K9 Teams supported are responsible for locating Lost Children, Lost Patients suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, Suicidal Persons in Crisis, as well as locating and  apprehending Violent and Dangerous Criminals in our communities such as suspects of Armed Robberies, Home Invasions, Sexual Assaults, and CarJackings.

 

The Detection K9 Teams supported are responsible for locating concealed evidentiary items related to Investigations of Child Pornography, Homicides, Arsons, Narcotic Trafficking, Wild Life Preservation,  Counter Terror Investigations and Operations, as well as keeping our communities, mass transit, and critical infrastructure safe from terror attacks by performing regular sweeps for improvised explosive devices (IEDS).

Breeds of K9s supported include German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Labrador Retrievers, and Blood Hounds trained in disciplines to include General Police Services,  Search & Rescue, Explosive Detection, Accelerant Detection, Electronic Storage Device Detection, Human Remains Detection, Narcotic Detection, and Fish and Game detection for Wild Life Preservation.
